Feeling overwhelmed by the world of wigs? We've got the ultimate guide straight from “Thee Frontal Queen herself, Adey to answer all your burning questions about wigs!

What is the best frontal to get 13 by 4 or 13 by 6?

The frontal refers to the front lace part of your wig. The numbers (13x4, 13x6) tell you its width/across and depth/back. Both work for middle or side parts, but for a deep side part that goes way back, a 13x6 is your bestie. It extends further, giving you more styling freedom. However, a 13x4 might be a bit lighter on your wallet, which is always a win!

What closure would you recommend a 5x5 or a 6x6?

Similar to frontals, closure sizes (5x5, 6x6) refer to the lace area. They're perfect for mimicking a frontal, but if you're feeling a glueless vibe, a 6x6 might be better. More lace = more coverage for a flawless blend.

Still, lost on closures vs. frontals? Check out our blog post for a deep dive!

How long should you leave the lace melting band?

There is no specific timeframe but we recommend you leave it for at least 20 mins to an hour. If you are in a rush, use a blow dryer to speed up the drying process.

Do you have to put the melting band on your lace before going to bed?

Oh no you do not, you can tie it down with a silk scarf.

How long should an install last?

A good wig install can last anywhere from 2 week to 3 weeks.

How many times can you reinstall a wig if it is good-quality hair?

With good care, you can reinstall your wig as many times as you want! Proper storage, product choices, and gentle removal are key. Think of it like treating your own hair – remove installs gently with alcohol (not the party kind, boo!), cleanse the lace after each use, and voila! Your wig will thank you.

How many times should you wash your wig?

Every 6-8 weeks. Don’t use hot water, use warm water for human hair and cold water for synthetic wigs. Never brush your wig when it is wet, use a wide tooth comb instead.

Do the knots of the wig have to be bleached or are there ways around it?

Knots (those tiny bumps where hair strands are attached) don't have to be bleached. You can use foundation or lace tint spray to camouflage them, but bleaching offers a more natural finish. Bleaching is a no-go for synthetic wigs, though! The knots are bleached to make the hairline look natural and to remove the black dots.

Do you have to necessarily wear a wig cap?

Wig caps are totally optional, but highly recommended for protecting your edges.

What is the best lace melting spray?

Finally, the million-dollar question! This answer is pretty obvious, The Frontal Queen’s Lace Melting Spray duh!

How can I take off my installs without damaging my hairline or edges?

We recommend using alcohol (dabbed on a cotton ball) around your edges to loosen the glue. This gentle approach makes removal a breeze and keeps your edges happy.
